Meet Antanette
Experienced. Qualified. Accessible.
Antanette Mosley is the Vice Mayor of Asheville, an attorney, and a lifelong daughter of this city. Raised in Asheville’s historic neighborhoods, where her family has lived for generations, she grew up surrounded by community leaders, educators, and elders who taught her the meaning of service long before she ever held public office. Those early lessons shape the way she leads today, grounding her work in humility, heart, and a steady commitment to every resident she serves.
Antanette is a graduate of Asheville School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, later earning her law degree and practicing in the areas of entertainment, copyright, trademark, and general litigation. She returned home to Asheville to use her skills in service of community, working in philanthropy, nonprofits, and advocacy spaces before joining City Council. Along the way, she has served on numerous boards, including RiverLink, The Connectivity Project, and Asheville PEAK Academy, where she continues to champion opportunities for young people.
Appointed to City Council in 2020 and elected in 2022, Antanette was unanimously selected by her colleagues to serve as Vice Mayor in 2024. She chairs the Housing & Community Development Committee and plays a key role in Asheville’s recovery from Tropical Storm Helene, while also helping guide the city's growth and long-term resilience. Her work includes helping to lead the city's Helene rebuilding efforts, supporting legacy neighborhoods, improving downtown safety and vitality, strengthening local arts and culture, and advancing housing strategies rooted in equity and community voice.
Throughout her tenure, Antanette has been known for her ability to listen deeply, collaborate across differences, and center the people who are too often left out of government decision-making. Whether working alongside longtime neighborhood leaders, small business owners, new residents finding their footing in Asheville, or families recovering from Helene, she brings a clear moral compass and a deep love for this city to every conversation.
As Vice Mayor, she is committed to building an Asheville that honors its history while preparing boldly for its future. She works for an Asheville where neighbors can afford to live, work, and thrive; where legacy neighborhoods are protected; where young people have opportunities to flourish; and where every resident feels seen and supported by their local government.
Antanette is running for re-election to continue this work: strengthening community, expanding opportunity, and ensuring Asheville remains a place where all of us can belong.
